All of the third grade beginning string and fourth grade beginning band students shared their progress with their parents in a series of “Showcase” performance throughout the district in January and early February. In the Showcase performances, the teachers share pertinent information about the challenges of beginning a musical instrument and offer suggestions for students to be more successful as young musicians. Each elementary school in the Darien Public Schools held a beginning string and beginning band student showcase to demonstrate the progress of the students and to give the students their first public performance experience. Elementary Instrumental Music teachers in Darien are: Dawn Hanley, strings at Holmes, Hindley and Tokeneke, Jane Minnis strings at Royle, Dylan Spielvogel, strings at Ox Ridge, Krista DiPietro, band at Hindley and band and strings Holmes, and Colin Walters, band at Tokeneke, Royle and Ox Ridge.
