The United States Coast Guard Band performed a free public concert for the students, staff members and residents of Darien on Monday, February 13. Members of the Coast Guard Band also coached students in pre-concert workshops. The highly acclaimed Band, under the direction of Lieutenant Commander Adam Williamson performed a wide variety of music selections ranging from challenging wind band literature such as Hammersmith by Gustav Holst to classic Sousa marches. French Hornist Brian Nichols did an exceptional performance of the Saint-Saens Horn concerto and DHS Band Director was asked to guest conducted the Coast Guard Band in the classic Washington Post March. The evening ended with a memorable performance of John Philip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever to a standing ovation.
